Samantha Daniels Napaltjarri

Samantha Daniels Napaltjarri is a third generation artist from Kaltakatjarra community at Docker River near the border of Western Australia and South Australia. She was born in 1982, the daughter of Ruby Daniels Nangala and the granddaughter of esteemed artist Linda Syddick Napaltjarri. Her grandfather on her other lineage is Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri.

Samantha began painting in 2005, working alongside her mother Ruby and grandmother Linda Syddick. Samantha tends to use heavy dot work and a bold colour palette when painting her images of Country. She is proud to promote her culture through her artwork and has successfully exhibited in galleries across Australia.

Samantha’s painting subject includes the story of the Spirit Men, ancestral beings that roamed the landscape during Dreamtime or Creation era. This is a subject which has also important for paintings by her mother and her grandmother. Samantha also paints aspects of Women’s Ceremony and Seven Sisters Dreaming, all located to specific sites on her Country and on her Grandmother’s Country.
