Small is Beautiful

We have selected a range of smaller size paintings to view in Gallery2 through the summer break. The gallery will close 25 December to 4 January but will be open all other days. We hope to see you if you are in Fremantle all other times over the summer.

The artists apply their stories to their canvases to describe the cultural and regional qualities of their homelands. Utopia artists Rita Pula Loy creates the rolling sandhill patterns of Central Australia and Dora Mbitjana combines traditional women’s body painting motifs into her work. Rachael Nambula includes images of the bush yam as does Eileen Bird Kngwarreye and Joy Petyarre. Other exhibiting artists include Nellie Marks Nakamarra, Jeannie Mills Pwerle, Belinda Golder Kngwarreye and Freda Price Pwerle amongst others. This is an evolving exhibition where sold works will be replaced with new paintings online.
